What will it cost me?
Let me know your budget, what time of year you wish to travel and what you want to get out of your shopping tour and I will plan an itinerary to suit you. The longer the planning time, the cheaper the airfares we can secure. I will source well located and good quality accommodation based on your budget in our tour’s cities and local transport which may be shared vans, buses or limousines with champers, it’s your choice. I can also arrange extras such as Broadway or Vegas show tickets, dinners, sightseeing passes and more. Due to COVID-19 Honolulu will likely be the first USA destination available for a USA Shopping Tour. On my personal shopping expeditions I’ve stayed in everything from hostels to The Plaza. I’ve spent ten hours walking and trying on outfits non-stop in one outlet centre (on more than one occasion in different cities) and glammed it up on Fifth Avenue. I’ve ridden the subway, public buses, tour buses and hired cars. To give you an idea of price, a trip for between two (single guests very welcome) and five guests in November for the Black Friday sales in Vegas and New York would cost between $6900 and $8400 AUD per person and there are no single supplements. This tour would include:
Return economy airfares from Melbourne, Australia to Las Vegas and New York;
Ground transfers in the USA between airports, accommodation and shopping destinations;
Seven nights in three and four star accommodation;
A personal Stylist appointment;
Travel insurance; and
a New York Pass.
You will also need to budget for meals (allow $50 per day as a minimum plus tips), excess baggage which may be payable per flight leg and is usually $25 per bag and of course your shopping funds!
A trip to Hawaii alone in November would cost more like $4000. Costs can alter due to the Australian dollar but everything will be confirmed with you before any payments are accepted and confirmations made. When booking, a 70% deposit will be required so the flights, accommodation and travel insurance can be paid for and the remaining 30% will be required two weeks prior to our departure.
The US government does not levy a value-added tax on merchandise as governments do in many countries but most states and some cities collect a sales tax on all purchases. State taxes usually average between four and eight percent. Some cities add an additional two percent. Some states exempt all clothes and food purchases from sales tax.
